If there’s a gap, I try to see what the manufacturer was trying to mimic on the real vehicle. Generally gaps need to be filled. Whether I try to put a weld seam there or need to fill with some major putty or plastic shims depends on what the real situation calls for. What are you modelling? Share that and I can perhaps help.

Hey RC! Im modeling the Tamiya’s Somevente. in the back where the top meets the hull, under neath the sponsons theirs a seam line on each side, and also in the front where the glacis plate meets the bottom hull, if glacis plate is the right term for this, but its that part and theirs a noticable gap there, i was thinking of just putting weld seam lines there and the other spots.
There are no weld lines on a semovente. It was assembled as plate armor. If memory serves, there are two large notches on both sides of the hull near the exhausts (on the Tamiya kit )…those need to be filled. As for the other seams, try the old elmer’s glue trick.
