A few days ago I finished my Tamiya Do 335B and here are some pics of it.
This is the first Tamiya airplane model that I have built and it was very easy to make compared to many of the models I have made so far, I can’t wait to build some of the other Tamiya kits I have in my stash, mostly Fw 190 F’s and D-9’s.
My Do 335B is painted and marked as an operational a/c, no Do 335’s saw any combat in the war I just wanted my Do 335B to be different than other models I have seen.
Excellent job - I hope my two come out as well as yours! btw - did you use any aftermarket parts, or build it OOB?
As a side note, a few Do-335s did make it into operational service, and at least one was shot down. Maybe not the B model you’ve made, but I’m sure I’ve read that somewhere.
You have a geniune show-stopper there my friend. The paint job and weathering are top notch. Also your photos are fantastic! The over all look is very convincing. Congratulations on one of the better models I’ve seen on this forum.
Thanks crocket, mikeiw, razordws, Jerry, Swanny, and mpartric for the comments!
mikeiw,
This model was built w/o any P/E or resin, only the decals are not stock.
Jerry,
Taking pictures of these models is nearly as much fun as building them. I will build some airfield buildings later this year and am working on some Luftwaffe start carts and a set of Preiser 1/48 scale Luftwaffe figures, late this year I might have some very convincing pictures to post.
Swanny,
I had hoped Tamiya would also produce the B-6 version, but looks like they may never.
mpartric,
The horizon and sky are airbrushed poster paper, I will be making a new backdrop out of foam board later this year. Poster paper is too flimsy and gets damaged too easy.
Just wait 'till next year, I should have most if not all the things built that I need to make some realistic looking airfield pictures, I want to take pictures that look so real you can’t tell the difference if its a model or a real a/c.
