This is one of two Matchbox 1/72 Do-18 flying boats I am modifying. This one is “Monsun” 1938 S. Atlantic mail service.

A. Kit supplied nose gun position cap sets too low and and too small is filled with Squadron White putty
B. Sink marks in fuselage filled with Mr. Surfacer 500
C. Masked portholes.
D. Kit supplied cover for dosal gun position is too large and sits proud of surface. Is filed down and cleaned up with Squadron White Putty.
E. Original kit directional antenna mount is removed, hole is filled with superglue, sanded down and finished with Mr. Surfacer 500. Antenna will be relocated over cockpit with flush mount.
The cockpit features scratch built throttle quadrant, Reheat instrument faces and Eduard seat belts. Remember, this entire assembly is about as long as an Xacto blade.

Looking good Matt.
Can’t wait to see it done. I’ve good the old Matchbox BAC Lightning and am doing a lot of add ons and dressing up with it. Definitely a long term project.
Looking forward to updates.
Beautiful work, Matt; there’s just something to be said about those old Classic Planes… the “grand sailing ships” of the aircraft world. [:)]
Thanks for showing your progress, will look forward to more, thanks again!
Take care,
Frank
Looks great Swanny, can’t wait to see more.
Jerry
Looking great as always Swanny. Hard to believe that all that with all that detail the kit is that small.
Very nice work Swanny. Keep us posted.
Regards, Rick
Looks good so far, Swanny !
Isn’t it fun to polish up the older kits? A lot more rewarding than having all the work done for you.
Now, if someone would release a 1/48 He 115 . . .
Looking forward to the next pics !
Very nice. I’ll keep an eye out for further updates.
Looks great! I love the updates! Keep them coming.
