While waiting for some parts for my Ferrari 312T2 to dry after painting, I decided to start this lil gem of a kit… This is not typically my scale but I wanted something simple yet fun…
Ok I have to admit, I had fallen in love with the winter dio box art and yes, it’s snowing out as I type!! So I figured I wanted to do a small simple winter dio and here is my chance…
Over all DML did a great job in terms of detailing all away around… I essentially wanted to go out of the box but I decided to add a few items…
Even though this is the initial production of the Tiger, I decided to add fender guards since they implimented them after August of 42…
I used thin sheet stock and measured em out to size… Four sections on each side with brackets attached to the bottom portion of the guards… In all there are 22 pcs that make up the completed mud guards…
I added some bullet holes in the exhaust covers as if the GI’s stumbled upon the tank and as a last act of defiance, shot at it with their riffles as they advanced back to their group… I also added some damage to the mud guards as well…
The only part that I truly did not like was how the tracks laid down… Yes they were very easy to work with including gluing together but they would not lay right…
However there was enough slack in the track that I was able to glue down to the road wheels and I think IMHO, they look rather nice…
The hardest part was adding the PE’d grab handles… Talk about making your eyes go Squirrely[8-)] AB’d it primer red and now will be applying the grey before I do the winter wash…
Not sure if I should use oils or tempra paint for the winter wash? We shall see… Well onto the pix… Hope you enjoy and please chim in…!!

As for the PE, yeah a lil nuts but I figured why not right?

Hehe I know right… Different is good[:P] As I mentioned to Ron, with the level of detail in this scale, it is really nice and is actually a blast to build…
As for the hairspray deal… How is that done… As for the PE, I feel that this is the first n last time I’ll be using itin this scale… lol
I feel your pain about the stupid tracks! I am absolutely sick at DML’s decision to give us those crappy, 80-s-era tracks with such otherwise-stellar details. I’ve even gone as far as to buy an extra Revell 1/72 kit just to get the indy-link tracks for many of the smaller scale kits that I want to build.
It should be easy to super-glue those tracks down with some tissue balls in between the hull to get them to lay down?
Thank you very much for the compliment…!! I know… You’d think with the way DML’s technology is, they could come up with a better way of forming the tracks to the drive train…
I glued the tracks in portions starting from the front and working my way back… I used a flat putty knife to help for the tracks down on the road wheels…
It took a bit of time and patience but I believe I pulled it off…!!

Well I was able to get more done on my lil Tiger and BOY has this build been a blast… I am learning A LOT in terms of working on teeny tiny pieces which should defenitly help in the scale that I am used to… 1/48th & 1/35th…
As you have seen in my last posting, I had AB’d the reddish brown primer and now the Tiger has it’s final paint on.
The other day, I was able to also apply the winter wish by using Winsor & Newton Titanium White and Paynes Gray…
I only added like a pin head size amount of the gray just to slightly tone the white down so it would not be so stark white against the Tigers gray color.
At first I was debating whether to use Tempra paint(water) or oils… I use oils on my a/c builds in the areas of hi-lighting and weathering but nothing like this…
So I went with the oils and WOW am I stoked on the over all look… Really easy to use and simple… As you will see, the white wash veries through out the built… I do not want uniform or perfection… It’s war…
I also used a mix of burnt umber, burnt sienna and Rust all to do up the tracks… Ugh still have one left to do… Nutz[bnghead]
I still have the road wheels to do and a few more areas to go over… But over all it is getting there!! Thank you for looking and any comments are welcomed!!
Oh before I forget, DML’s decals rule… I totally thought I had but on a clear coat so I decided to apply the decals…
I laid down a light coat of Walthers solvaset and tada… They laid down as if there were painted on… No silvering nor decal lines… I was really impressed… [:D[

1/72nd scale is lil small for me and those kind of tracks in that scale?!? Can you say blind
This is looking great! [Y] Like the winter wash very much. I grew up in North Tonawanda til I was 23 years old. I come to NF/Buffalo area few times a year visiting my parents and family. I try to shop at Niagara Hobby & Craft Mart when I have the chance because my boys enjoy visiting the store too. Is there another good hobby shops in your area that I should check out?

All sorts of models and scales… After market decals to after market accessories!! Ref material galor… They are the only mom n pop shop around… Give or take 64 yrs in biz…
