I just bought DML’s USMC figures that model them in the war with Iraq. I only completed one, but I decided to put it in a vinegate (a don’t know how it’s spelled) the whole thing was painted in acylics, and I used my Iwata hp-cs airbrush to make the shading in the folds and wrinkles. The whole idea is a Marine standing in front of a chipped and bullet ridden wall. At his feet are bricks and one brass shell. All comments are welcomed! Thanks for looking![:D]

Remember, the Marines are using the new digital camo in Iraq. More or less same colors but in a pattern made up of tiny pixels. Using a flat ended, stiff brush will get more of that effect. Use a bit of the color, dab most off then dab the figure.
armormaster, would like to see your pic’s but i’m not familiar with how to view them. there is just a box with a red “x” inside of it. can you or someone else give me a quick lesson on how toaccess these types of pic’s? thanks, semper fi, mike.
That is excellent, it looks like my friends dad, cept he is with the army, 122nd engineer batallion. same gun though uniform is the same, so is the vest. nice job
Don’t worry about the cammies not being digital pattern. Alot of the Marine units rushed overseas in 2003 did not have access to the digitals due to short supply and the fact that they were not required until 2004! So, pretty much everyone was issued the army-style desert pattern BDUs going in-country for OIF I. Too bad everyone was issued green-patterned chemical suits to wear over their desert uniforms!!
Nice figure. There is, however, a small problem. While it is accurate to portray the young Devildog in the old style cammies, since many units did not have digitals during the war, the gear he has attaced to his flak jacket in inaccurate. A couple of years ago the Corps adopted the MOLLE system, replacing the ALICE pack and gear that had been in use for many years. The gear your figure has on is not MOLLE gear, particularly the magazine pouches with grenade pockets. In the new system, the mag pouches hold two apiece, and they lay flat. Grenades have a seperate pouch. I’ll try to post a picture of my MOLLE gear so you can see what it looks like.
Nice job on the Marine. I have the same kit and its really very good. Been wanting to try my hands on the Marpat scheme but I gotta lay my hands on a fabric sample first. The tan/brown on the Marpat looks different from the traditional woodland that you did.
By the way, its spelled “vignette.” Thanks for sharing!
