Picked this kit up today (never done a Panther) and I must say I am impressed… Full color pics, wire tow cables, some PE and the metal gun…
Anyone done this kit? How does it go together? Also, I noticed the Boxart Panther has waffle zimmerit… Is there a zimmerit kit made for this particular Panther? Thanks in advance.
Yes, I have it. One this one, I did the zimmerit the old fashioned way- putty. It is a very nice kit. I am about half way (shelved for a while due to me getting frustrated with the zim) and have’t run into any fit issues. I believe Cavalier makes a tiled Panther A zimm. Don’t look for waffle zimm…that actually looks like waffles and was on the Stugs
Jason, maybe I’m being dumb and totally missing something, but what are these 4 plastic white strips with the cutouts>???
I Have that kit too, but i havent been able to work on it becuase of school. The cut outs are the side skirts that cover the wheels.
Hi, I just finished this kit and built it at the same time as I did a Tamiya Panther G. The Dragon kit went together with no troubles except a slight gap on the fit between the top and bottom body halves at the front. No big deal, a little putty and it was a good as new. The barrel was great; saved a lot of time. I did mine with no zim and I am really happy with it. I am just finishing up the Normandy jagdpanther and it is going together even better. All in all, an excellent kit. Good luck.
Atak and cavalier makes resin zim for the Dragon panthers. Air connection carries Atak and michigan discount models carries cavalier.
I have this kit as well (with the metal barrel). It’s very nice and I’ll start it once I get some zimmerit. I am disappointed that I have to cut the muzzle break off of the plastic barrel to put it on the metal barrel. It’s too bad DML didn’t include an extra muzzle break for the aluminum barrel. It is definitely worth the money and will look good on my shelf.
I think you are confusing "waffle "pattern with a Panther pattern that looks like a checkerboard ,( the lines go horizontal in one square, and verticle in another alternating , creating a checkerboard pattern )
There is also a pretty cool looking diamond pattern I have seen on a few A’s
Cavalier has very nice resin Zimm kits for the A , if you wish to go that way , I have used cav on other builds and it is very nice stuff to work with !
Waffle was only on the later StuGs /StuH machines , as far as I know .
I know what you are saying here , I bought a Jordi Rubio barrel for my Marder III last year only to find that the JR muzzle break was incorrect to the max . I used the Tamiya kit supplied muzzle instead ( which I had to cut off the plastic barrel ) and it came out great in the end .
When someone deals you lemons , make some damn lemonade !
thanks for all the info guys, gonna order that zim!
That’s the one thing I’ve noticed with Dragon. They put zim on the tank in the picture on the cover, but don’t include it in the kit, either molded on or some sort of AM. They put everything else in these kits, you’d think they’d put in zimmerit too. I bought the Tiger(P) and have the same problem, but there isn’t even an AM set out for it yet.[soapbox] – OK, I’m off now.
They are the schurzen. Dragon made them out of a thin material that you can actually bend and crease to show damage. I used them on my Pz III and I actually like them.
