Good morning:
One month ago I purchased a DML 1/72 scale Focke-Wulf Ta-152h-1 (w/ photoetched parts). The kit appears to have great detail, especially in the engine area. Recenlty I saw DML’s 1/48 scale version of the Ta-152h-1 and wondered if the larger scale is a better quality kit with equal or better detail? Has anyone built either the 1/72 and/or 1/48 scale versions or heard any reviews of the larger scale version? Any constuctive comments are welcome. Thank you in advance.
The 1/48 kit is a beauty. You need care if you choose to open the cowls, and the parts for the rear of the engine need to be carefully aligned. I added the Eduard PE set to this one. I have another waiting to be built, and will open the cowl on that one. Dryfitting is essential with the 1/48 kit. Take your time, its a VERY nice kit.
The original mold of both kits are similar for the 1/72 Focke-Wulf Ta-152 H1 was scaled
down from the 1/48. The kit was I think Aeromasters if I were not mistaken. They are all
1/48 German aircraft of WW II with white metal parts and photo-etch. They all have I think
a white metal engine blocks, sad to say the the company was gone now and the molds
was then sold to DML which in turn made 1/48 and 1/72 scale. By the way, over all look
of the details is very good but my sample has warp wing. but in essence its true to its
former big self. You will have lots of filling and sanding, and the photo is a little to hard for its made of stainless steel instead of brass. My 1/72 Ta-152 took me two years to finish
most spent on research and throwing in every details that I think would fit much less the
kitchen sink. lol. Its a good kit enjoy.
I chose to leave the engine out of my example, since I’m getting ready to use it in an RV Resins kit. There were no fit problems that couldn’t resolved with an adequate amount of force…just kidding. It built up well.
Pix, we should get our 3&4 together for a group photo!!
Thanks man I stand corrected. Aeromaster makes decals.
It was in the tip of my tongue…hey but I got the master part[:I]
Those are really great models people.
Thank you all for your comments, suggestions and models examples. I’ve ordered the DML Ta-152h-1 and look forward to building it.
One more question - Does any one know where I can get a good cross reference chart for paint that compares Gunze vs Polyscale vs Testors, etc. acrylic paints?
