Here are some shots of my first 700th scale warship almost ready for paint. I chose the cheap Tamiya kit as a starting point and picked up the Eduard pe set for it for a small amount. Be gentle with me…[;)]

Here are 2 more right before she goes in the paint booth. She is mosly clawed now with the exception of a few AA guns on the deck. Left off the life boats and davits as well to aid in painting. Planning and doing the scheme she was in during Operation Cerberus with the blue turret tops and the squiggle/mottle on the superstructures.

Thanks Eric, this is also one of my favs from the Germans!! Haven’t picked up the Dragon 350th yet but I’d really really love the chance to do this one up in the bigger scale with some new cutting edge tooling as this kit is definitely showing its age. Got some paint on it, some touching up to do and I’m not entirely happy with the deck color but it is what it is. Going to finish all the trim painting on the deck and then start with the dark grey mottling on the superstructures. Thanks for looking…

Seriously tho great work especially on something so small as it were. I really like the little plane , cracked me up when i saw it. I also notice that i’m not the only one that has designated one of my helping hands to holding a pair of self closing tweezers…lol

Tiger, thanks man. this thing is really small and the pe has about drove me nuts but the worst is yet to come with the rails for the hull. I though the little Arado was just cool. Darn thing has pe struts for the floats and a pe prop. Almost went blind on that one. Thought about painting it and posting in the aircraft forum as my second aircraft buld of the year, rofl. And I absolutely looooove the self closing tweezers, they can be a godsend for sure!!
Small update. All turrets painted with the tops light blue including some of the secondary armaments. Moving ahead with the dark grey camo tonight so hopefully pics soon.
Another itty bitty update, and it took a damn long time too I know…[:^)]
Trying to finish the Cerberus scheme. It has some crazy mottling on alot of the upper superstructure. I have tried to recreate it best I could with a fine brush. Not sure how I am feeling about it at this point though. What do you guys think??

Thanks Eric and MIke. To answer your question Eric, I actually got the idea from a color plate in a Kriegsmarine ref book that I have. There are also some pics on this page that show some of that camo scheme after they arrived at Wilhemshaven. I thought it was pretty interesting and had never seen it. I will post the plate later hopefully.
Hi, JESTER ! Say do you want to have a really good looking deck color ? Heres what I did . I found that TAMIYA,S deck tan paint is okay , BUT, you can beat this in a regular enamel . Take the last bottle of glue (testors) you used . empty out the dregs and clean it well .Now take a regular sized bottle of MODELMASTER (TESTORS)FLAT DARK TAN and a bottle of FLAT WHITE .These ARE flats . now that you have the two colors in the bigger bottle add TWO large drops of BERET GREEN. You should be getting a greenish tan color . Now when well mixed add TWO drops of FLAT BROWN . You now have the equivilant of TAMIYA deck tan or HUMBROL,S deck bleached teak. You may darken or lighten to suit your prefference . Tankerbuilder P.S. I added four more drops (small) of white to mine .
