Disposal of Old #11 Xacto Blades

Here is an easy disposal idea for those worn out blades. I take one of those mini M&M containers with the flip top on it, cut a slit big enough to put the old blades into it and when it is full, tape the slit and throw away. No mess, no accidental cuts while taking out the garbage, and kids do not get into them. Make sure you take of the M*M wrapper so the kids don’t think it is candy and try opening it. Work great. You can also put velcro on the side and then hang it up some where on the work bench.

Good idea.

I usually just wrap a few pieces of masking tape around it and throw it in the garbage.

Good ideas!
Another I’ve heard is to put them in old Coke (or whatever) cans.
Don’t know what, if any, ramifications that may have on recycling, but it sounds like a safe way to chuck old blades.

The Olfa and Tamiya hobby knives I use come with plastic cases that carry new blades and have a chamber for old blades. Pretty efficient.

I just put them back in the plastic holder they come in, except I put them on the bottom, under remaining new blades, & face them in the opposite direction. When I remove the last new blade, just snap the plastic holder shut & dispose in the trash.

HEY,
Or you could give them to me.lol jk. Ya i just usually throw it in my trash box(i have a model box i throw all of my little sraps away in) and tos it like that.

J-Hulk -
i think Coke dissolves Xacto blades.

I just ordered a surgical scalpal. I am hoping the blade will have a longer life span.

I use the scalpal blades to but they dont last as long as you would think, But I get mine from my father in law who is a dentist so they dont cost me that much.

Sometimes I wrap old blades in thick strapping tape with extra around the point end … and toss in the trash.

Another place to put used xacto blades is … inside the wall in your bathroom … [%-)] … let me explain. Some older bathroom medicine cabinets have a small slot in the side or back … the purpose is to toss away old used safety razor blades. Yes I know hardly anyone uses the old fashioned safety razor blades these days … and perhaps the newer bathroom medicine cabinets no longer have these used safety blade slots … but I just thought I would mention it.
