Displaying Tank Interior

Any suggestions on how I can display the detailed cockpits of Trumpeter’s 1/16 T34/85 Russian tank? I’m hoping their are ways to showcase the complete tank and still have the option to view the interior. Thank you.

hi peter777-- i am doing the same build-- showing off the interior upon final completion is tough–on mine,i am cutting open every factory access panel, making the hinges work, ect-- i also plan on making the entire top hull to lift off-- not sure how exactly, but i will do it—i see you are a new poster to the forum-- if you do a ‘search’ on my name(treadwell),you can pull up alot of old posts on the interior of this model – i am about 6 months into it and really enjoying it-- tough as it seems to be sometimes-- best of luck to you-- post some pics as you go-- i would love to see them—treadwell[8D][:P]

You could cut out some sections in the sides, like they did with the jagdpanther at Bovington, UK. (at least i think it was that one)

On the other hand, i wouldn’t do that myself[:P]

Leaving the turret top removeable is a good start, displaying the turret next to the model is another [;)]

Cutaways are a good way to go about it, but then you eliminate (obviously) the part of the interior you cut off. I’d go with actually elevating the entire upper hull.

Hi y’all. Thanks for your suggestions. Treadwell, I will try to buy/borrow a digital camera and post pictures soon. The model sure is a lot of fun to build and I look forward to comparing notes. Also, thanks for the great photo archive.

Think about cutting the turret roof off along the weld lines. you could then set it back on top when not viewing the interior. I plan on doing that to a panther I plan on doing soon. Greg

hey greg-- that was the first thing i did[:D]–comes out pretty clean if you cut from the inside out-- treadwell
