I am curious. How are pople keeping the dust off your models? I am so frustrated with the grey color that accompanies the dust that is inevitable. I don’t have the patience or time to keep brushing things off. I wish glass display cases were not so ridiculously priced. Any ideas?
I went to one of those Sauder furniture stores and picked up a glass fronted book case for about $100 USD. I am very happy with it, I currently have about 8 planes and four tanks in there and still have one shelf to fill.

You can find acrylic cases which are less expensive than glass, or make your own.

You can always keep them in drawers or boxes till you get a place to display them also
Several of the pre-fab furniture companies make a 4 unit book shelf with retractable, glass front pieces/doors. You can get about 2 1/2 48 scale planes or about 6-8 braile scale per shelf. With the doors closed, the dust collecting is reduced to about 5% of what it is sitting in the open. The glass allows you a quick look each time you walk past or open it up for a better look or to show off your work to someone.
If your models have to sit on an open shelf, tuck a piece of Saran wrap over/around/under the model. It can be easily removed to show off for a friend or admire your own handiwork. [alien]
can anyone lead the way to a company? I have looked and everything is ungodly expensive.
I’ve been looking an bookcases from Ikea, specifically their Billy series bookcases with double glass doors, here’s a link.
Its $358, veneer over particle board. Its not the cheapest, but not a bad price for the quality and double glass doors. its a full 6.5 ft tall and has options for glass shelves (i’ve seen them at the store). I don’t know if you think that’s within your price range.
Imex makes a series of Acrylic display cases which are wonderful (and stackable) - for $12.00 for thier largest size , it’s a bargain that’s hard to pass up.
You can find them at roll models

Until you’re able to get your hands on a display case, you could just give your models a squirt of air from a “dust-gun” (from a distance of six inches or so). Mine is the non-aerosol can called Dust Gun 100 available from photography stores for a few bucks, and is intended to keep dust off delicate parts.
Happy New Year

I bought my display case at Wal Mart about a year ago. $100 in the furniture department. I have been looking for a second one, but they haven’t had them in stock for awhile. You might check some of the other discount super stores or cheap furniture stores. [alien]
