I am working on a boat for my son’s new house. I would like to have it in a case (glass or acrylic). They seem pricey. Any reccomendations?
If your decent at woodworking can you make one yourself?
I made on for a fairly large wood Mayflower several years ago using glass cut at the local hardware store.

I’ve had pretty good luck making my own clear plastic display cases: Don’t know where you live, but in the States you can get 1/8" (larger is too difficult to work with) clear “PlexiGlas-like” sheets at Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. Make your measurements and cut the plastic with a hobby knife (Takes much scoring to get an even break)…much better is a table saw with a fine blade. Make your cuts, de-burr and sand the edges smooth; I usually glue the sides first, then the top…I use liquid glue (Weld-On #4 works great, if you can get it…Tenax works well, too) in a small, diabetic syringe with needle. When you get the sides lined up, follow the join, gently and evenly pushing on the plunger, using capillary action. Hold the join to gether for a minute or so to make sure the glue has set. Avoid using masking tape to hold things together, as it will probably suck some of the glue up and ruin the plastic. Practice beforehand so you’ll know what to expect from the syringe.
