This vignette was inspired by another vignette of a dispatch rider set in the pre-war 30s. This one was set in the aftermath of the Allies first bombing of Germany.Remnents of the glory days are still visible. This vig has caused quite a stir everywhere I present it so even here if it is not acceptable I will remove it!
enjoy[:)]
nice little dio… don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, it’s part of history. doesn’t mean you condone it…
Hey Sasd, what scale is it. I have been looking for a BMW in 1/48. By the way it looks great and I dont have a problem with it (imho).
Thad
Beautiful!!! Can’t see any reason to cause a stir, like tankergeoff said, it’s history. Anyone that is that P.C. should get over it!!![tup]
Maybe Im alittle niave, but I dont see what the fuss is about.
Looks like a great build. Thanks for sharing.
It looks great, thanks for the pics…
Another great piece Russ. I’m sure there’s someone out there who’ll go “OH GOD! A Swastika, and a photo of Adolf!” It’s history.
I belive the bike and the figure probably came from Tamiya’s 88 kit, I have the exact same guy and bike left over from that kit. (1/35th scale)
Looks great…I’ll jump on the bandwagon/join the consensus/follow the flock/whatever you want to call it and say I’m okay with it…as those before me have stated, it’s history.
Besides, who could knock it when it looks so good [:)]
Many thanks guys, yes I have run into more than a few folks here in Canada who have
reservations about the piece, one in particular was in a library where we were doing a
model display in a rather large display case,I actually got a phone call from the head of the library to come down and remove the display, all because of this one piece,it caused quite an uproar with many of the librarians! Oh well,ya can`t please everyone!
Thanks again guys for all your comments.
Thad,it`s all 1/35 scale. The kiosk was made out of a Smartys candy tube cut down a little,a clay ball was added and shaped wire for trim. Fire hydrant was fashioned from spare parts, sewer grate made from plastic card, posts made from clay and a chain added. The figure and the bike are as Kelly mentioned, left overs from the Flak 88 kit from Tamiya.
Fantatsic work you’ve done a awesoem job with the old tamiya kit and as they say (less is better) and you’ve achived that with this little beauty.
Ron
Maybe those people that work at the library should try reading some of the books there. Some where in the history section would be a nice start. [2c].
Anyways, I like the idea, I’m sure at the time the bombing was a big surprise for the Germans. They were told and I’m sure believed at the time that nothing could hurt them. But this Vig. marks a turning point in history. I for one really like it and the idea behind it. Great work sasd. Thanks for the show.
Nicely done. Definitely draws you in for a closer look.
Great little vignette. Very well done.
Regards, Rick
really nice. there is no need of bombed buildings nor big armors to do a nice work
Keep it up!
i know russ i sound like a broken record. but that is really good![8]
Sasd, you know that display relly got me hot under the collar, you must remeber how choked i was about that, you stoped me from doing somthig stupid. like i told you i wanted to find that clown , and have him put his face in a big heavy book and slam both covers as hard as i could, to see what pressed bookworm looked like. But its still a gerat little vg.I wounder what that nig-nog would say about the one iam planning, the one i told you about,IN THE NAME OF GOD? for those out there that are historicly challenged. It is set in France the time 1450,during the time when it was a crime to be a woman. ie the french inquistion. keep up the great work my freind, you friend in vsm Roy C aka the The Warlock
P.S to all other of you fine modelers out the. Iguess Kelly Zck and I are luckyer than you,sad is in the same model club, and got see this little gem in various stages, from beging/to what you see befor your eyes. you should see some of the other ones sasd has done over the yrs. they are fntastic.
Ditto all of the above. If people don’t like history then don’t read about it!!
you’re a machine buddy!! nice work again!![tup]
