Diorama No. 12 (pics)

The story behind this is very simple. A squad of paratroopers on patrol.

Figures are assorted Dragon figures (all paratroopers).

The house and the fence are scratchbuilt.

Now why the color is like that?[:D] Oh well I was actually starting to paint them in color but I had a hard time getting the right color for the uniforms until I ran out of OD. Since I was too lazy to go to the LHS to get some more paint and I was so impatient that I wanted to finish the diorama right away, I toyed with the idea of just using shades of grey mixed from white and black. Now I have seen a diorama done in B&W and it was amazing. So I said, why not try it? I did and well…it came out “not so bad”.[:D]

Well what’s your comments?

That is really cool. If the base wasn’t in color, I would swear that you took a BW pic of a color dio

very nice. and did you paint the spaid on the helmet or is it decal?[8][X-)]

It is handpainted. No decals came with the figures.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Really great. Wonder if you can put a B&W backdrop to it and then take pics. Then you would fool us all. What a great job.

Ted

Hey that’s a cool idea Ted. I might try that. Thanks.

wow. very nice and very interesting!!!

that is very cool dwight![8D]

Thanks again for the replies guys.

knowing dwight, he probably photochopped it all to make us think its B&W… jk

…great job dwight, you take the idea from that sherman on the bridge??

[:D][:D][:D][:D] (shhhhhh)

Yup…that dio was too cool that i said I wanted to try it sometime.

Thanks…

Very interesting concept Dwight and a very well done vignette.
Excellent stuff!

Thank you, sasd. That means a lot to me coming from a very experienced diorama builder like yourself.

And your lazyness pays off, GREAT build. So was it hard mixing the colors to get the shades you wanted? And did you have a reference?

Thanks for sharing.

Again, excellent work, Dwight!

Nice job. Looks good.

Great build Dwight! Great concept, don’t see stuff like this everyday, and you captured the b&w great. Well done!

Thanks again, guys.

Skarpotchi: Well it was not easy although as an artist, I have had experience in painting in blue shades before so maybe it helped me alot. For reference, I had this pictures from Band of Brothers which I printed in B&W. From there, I kinda based the shades.

Nice work Dwight, -a very interesting concept![:)][tup]

nice dio, im working on a similar one. i have four germans and four american paratroops and theyre about to bump into eachother on either side of a hedgerow. ill post pics when im done. quick question, how did u do the gun slings? i used lead foil but found it difficult to fit and delicate in the end. it looks great though. i was just curious for future projects.
