I know theres a lot of GB’s in progress and new ones starting in January, but Wayne and I are thinking about a Dinosaur GB for 2016. We try to create an opportunity for those of us who wants to build in a very cool subject. Theres a lot of Dino kits out there and each offers enormous diorama opportunities in many scales.
Right now we’re looking for feedback to see if there is any interest.
Crossovers are welcome so bring your T Rex whos taking a bite out of your PT boat or a herd of Raptors surrounding a King Tiger Tank. Bring em, we’re good with that.
You know what, I already have a couple of GB commitments for next year and have vowed to only be in 2 at once. And I try and avoid buying a kit for a GB.
But this one is so different and sounds like it could be so much fun and would certainly be different, I just have to say count me in.
Ok, I know you said they were cheap, but I just found a Tamiya 1/35th T-Rex for under £3, does that sound right. Do you know of any other brands to look for.
most of the ones i have are Tamiya 1/35 which works nicely if you are doing a wayne wierd diorama. there are 2 T-rexes from Tamiya. the older less accurate is the one standing like Godzilla, the other is the running one with a small diorama base. the mesozoic 6 pack is $16 USD but the largest one is a baby T-rex and one is a bird and another is a big croc. and there are 6 packs of my favorites, Velociraptors.
only area of concern is sanding gaps where the arms and leg attach without sanding off the texture. ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME. same with seam lines but i have found a new #11 blase and patience works well followed by some 400 sandpaper.
Pegasus does 1/24 that are quite nice. they are a different type of plastic and need to be primed (advice from dino friend). could always have a Triceratops goring a Revell 1/24 UNIMOG rally truck.
don’t fotget many sci fi aliens are reptiles and don’t necessarily have the same color as dinosaurs so…
Thanks wayne, I did see the T-Rex dio one and was thinking of that. Can’t seem to find them in the UK but Amazon has them from japan, so if this goes ahead, I think I will get one of those. Might mess around with some home made extra foliage as well.
Ack, I was trying to finish up the GBs I’m currently in and not get involved in many new ones but gee you guys are really tempting me here! I have about a half dozen or so kits, Tamiya and otherwise that I guess this would give me an excuse to build.
G jump in, grab one of those dino’s by the tail and set em in some sand. Maybe a triceratops eating a dino turtle?
Bish, on the high end I’ve seen some awesome kits by Pegasus that are btw 59 and 79 US but they look fantastic. I’m thinking of getting one of their kits for my build.
Lol! I’ll consider it. Someone did do a resin kit of the giant prehistoric turtle Archelon but I’ve got a Tamiya T.Rex (new kit) and a Chasmosaurus plus a resin Albertosaur, and a bunch of other stuff I need to get built.
