Differences in 1/48 F-4 Phantom kits...

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any real differences between the Revell/Monogram 1/48 “Mig Killer” & the 1/48 ProModeler kits. I know that ones a J version & the other an E, but is there any real difference in the quality of the two kits?? Thanks.

The big difference with the E is that is an ex-Hasegawa kit! I don’t know about the J but it might be also. For their age the old Monogram, now Revellogram, Phantoms were good. That would be the C/D and J models.

Brian, the monogram kit has suffecient detail but does use the usual thick monogram plastic with associated fit problems - especially with the fusalage halves. The m-gram also has raised panel lines. The Hasegawa kit has excellnt fit with engraved panel lines. It’s a bit short on cockpit detail. I built this kit into a Luftwaffe F-4F using aftemarket seats form cutting edge. I posted a few images of this kit last night under my “WWII shelf” topic. Just scroll down to the bottom - I sneaked them in with the prehistoric stuff. [:D]

The Monogram J is a Monogram tooling, now pretty old, with raised panel lines & some fit problems. The E is the Hasegawa tool re-boxed & a bargain at the price.
