What kind of paint is used to cover dielectric panels/radomes? I think it would block radar. Or are the surfaces “cooked” or made like that?
Back in the old days the panels and radome were covered by neoprene. That was when they used a lead base paint to paint the aircraft. With newer paints, which doesn’t use lead, they are painted with the same paint used on the rest of the aircraft.
Radomes are still covered with a white neoprene and then painted to match the aircraft color. That is why you will often see an aircraft with a different shade of paint on the radome.
