Hello from Germany,
I’ve bought a kit of 1/24 Beaver Floatplane kit from Cedar Creek. Now I want to know, if someone here did this kit, and how to do better details. Esspecially details of the inner model.
Hope to get some help for doing a fine scale model…
Regards,
Ernst

Welcome to the forum!!! I love Bavarian stuff, like BMW (haha)… I had an old 2002tii when I was in high school and it was the coolest car on earth. Anyhow good to have you here. Can’t help with the beaver other than I flew in one in Alaska a few years ago and it’s also a very cool a/c.
Thanks for your welcome and for the link.
But did anyone the floatplane-model?
Avanti - I looked out at two of my main resources and they only had things like engines and canopy masks for the Beaver. I built one (forget who made it) years ago and loved the finished kit… good luck and post pictures! I would love to see it when you finish!
—edit—
Wow! I just noticed the kit is 1/24!! that’s great! The one I built was 1/48. Sadly there are very few aftermarket pieces for 1/24 aircraft…
Avanti,
I have not built the kit but do have a suggestion for you. I have a freind who is a retired bear hunting guide from Alaska. He still has loads of photos of his planes, he used a Grumman Goose. Do a web search for Alaskan guides and shoot them an e-mail explaining what you are doing and they may send you photos or they may have stuff on thier site already. Hope this helps and I do sincerely look forward to seeing the completed project…
Thanks for your help. I’ve found hundreds of Beaverpics over Google. So it’s very difficult to find the right painting.
Some time ago, I did a Beaver as rc-flyer from GWS. Pics of this model you can see on my HP. Maybe I build the floatplane in the colors of a swiss plane, which is flying at Lake Constance. Pics of this plane can be found at airliners.net . I don’t know.
The model is very big, with a span of 24 inch.
Another question:
How can I post pics at this forum?
I may be mistaken, but I think I heard thart this kit doesn’t come with clear windows, and you’d have to vac-form your own.

That’s correct, dragonfly. The hull is closed overall, and you only have black decals for the windows. But this is no problem for an old modelbuilder. I’ve done my first kit, an Airfix Grumman Widgeon, in the mid sixties of last century.
Pleaase dont’ make the mid sixties sound like it was so long ago. After all, I’m an old fart myself! LOL. Good luck on the beaver, and be sure to post some pics.
Jerry
Here’s instructions on posting pictures form another thread:
I’d use www.photobucket.com to host the pictures. All you have to do is to set up an account. That won’t take more than a minute;.
@gbritnell
Very fine work. Thank you for the pics. They are very helpfull. And they show me, that I will need a lot of time for an exellent model.
Sweet Plane. I gotta get me one of these.
IIRC, this model was originally a promotion item for some Canadian Whiskey. I’ve seen many hanging from ceilings in liquor stores. It has the potential for a very fine build.

A couple of years ago Stoneboat did a very detailed build of this kit at Swanny’s.

Matt Swann’s article is very complete and will supply any detail you are inquiring about. Although not a static model, I have the Beaver as an Electric Remote Control flier at 57" wingspan. An excellent docile flier.
