Check this out if you are building either the 1/48 Tamiya kit or Azur’s 1/32 brand new offering…
thanks!
some nice pics there. my French is a bit rusty, but i think everything is self-explanatory.
unless it says “these colors are wrong, don’t use them!” ![]()
just picked up the Tamiya kit on the cheap.
i don’t count rivets so the only inaccuracy i could find was the intro blurb stating if the French air force had more of these planes, the outcome might have gone differently (or something to that effect).
having recently read Shirer’s “The Collapse of the Third Republic”, it seems the statement should read
“if the French air force had more of these planes IN THE AIR . . .”

I have to agree with you there! Glad it was helpful to you. Any troubles with the language, give me a shout.
Thank you verey, very much - I’ve just begin with them both (Tamiya & Azur). Regards ! Aleksander
Really!? How’s the Azur kit? I’ve been itching about it!
Footcav is right. Bad organisation of the armed forces played a important part in the swift defeat of 1940. One thing that must be remembered is that the French in general were not keen on any war with anybody. The souvenirs of WWI was still very fresh then and few, if any (!) wanted to see their country witness such an horrific event ever again. Had they been a little bit more ‘keen’, I think they would have killed Hitler in the egg, so to speak, when he went for Poland. Had their army, the politicians and the civilians been more ‘aggressive’, had their army been organised a different way, things would have been very different.
Some nice shots of a beautiful plane. Thank you for sharing.
On another note in WWII, if Hitler had followed the British across the chanel, the war would have been over years before it finally ended. If you recall, the British had to leave everything except small firearms on the French coast in order to cross the channel in fishing boats. This meant that the Isle was almost completely undefended. Instead, Hitler decided that he wanted to punish the Brits for getting involved, and started the V-2 attacks. If he had just followed them, he could have walked straight into London with nary a shot fired in retaliation, and the US would have been left out of the war.
Just my take on history.

Hitler, and probably no one else, realized that if the French and Britons had mobilized after the militarization of the Rhineland, Germany would have been defeated. The Germans really didn’t have the manpower to defend the territory and hadn’t stockpiled enough war materiel to wage an effective war. Too, the “Volkswagen” ripoff of the German people hadn’t fully paid off yet…The Allies stalled for far too long…
Historians usually blast Chamberlain as a political figure, but he did prepare Britain for the coming war…
Further, I personally believe that Pro-Nazism (or, at least support of “Germanic solidarity”) throughout the world had a significant and telling effect on the European policy of appeasement. People, in general, conceded that germanic peoples had the right to be unified as one nation. For heavens sake, the Czechs had absolutely no say about the future of the Sudetenland, and the territory was part of their country!!!
Sorry! I didn’t mean to turn this post into a historiographical discussion…

Hitler didn’t follow the BEF and the remains of the French Army across the English Channel for three main reasons:
Insufficient vessels to convey troops and armour.
No air superiority.
The Royal Navy
Even Gross Admiral Raeder had no faith in the abitlity of the Kriegsmarine’s ability to deliver sufficient troops onto a beach head with the Royal Navy still in the game.
History lesson over.
It’s nice to see this earlier phase of the war getting some attention as it is often overlooked.
How about a Dewoitine in Luftwaffe markings as a trainer?
Thanks alot Wildwilliam for the Deweotine link. I ordered it though they say its not in stock. They take back orders up t o2 months. So I’ll keep my .50cals crossed and hope some make over the ocean. Peace out, thanks again. T.L.[:)]
