RBaer,

Wow, that’s superb! Really great flame effect!! [Y]

In one word : “Incredible flames”

You can start a factory what u made here, can i order 2 pieces please?

Sure, how high? [;)] Actually I was thinking of doing a YouTube how to video. I should be getting back on this as soon as I complete 2 other builds. Almost done with one a maybe a week for the other.
Steve

Now that it’s been a little while and I have finally gotten back to it, I think it’s ready for some paint.

Steve

An evening of painting several builds and here’s the Lion. I still have much to do.

Steve

She looks pretty darn good so far!

I worked on the flame out of the barrel and wanted to show how I did it.
First, after drilling a hole through the barrel all the way to the mallet, I inserted some wire for the LED.

Next I soldered the wires to the LED and covered them with shrink tubing to prevent shorts.

Attaching the battery pack provides me with the assurance that everything is working well.

I then applied some white glue to the bulb to attach the cotton.

I applied a bit of cotton to simulate the flame.

And lit it again to see if I have the desired effect.

After painting yellow, orange and black and letting it dry…

This is the result, with the flame piller attached to show the whole scene.

That’s where I am so far.

Steve

WOW, that looks awesome Steve! If I didn’t know better I’d swear you’d filled the turret up with propane and torched that sucka off!!! [:|]

Ri

Right? I can feel the heat from here.

That is SICK!

I’m thinking your going to be getting some awards for sure! This is awesome!

HOLLY SH@#%!!! THIS IS INCREDIBLE

That looks awesome. I think that is the most realistic flame effect I have seen. Usually, it looks fake and bad, but not this one. Great job. I can’t wait to see it finished and on the base.

Steve that is scary good.

As you show us, it isn’t all that hard to do…it’s just the immense talent used, to get it to all come together and look like that

Thanks guys. The lighting makes all the difference. Now if I can get the base and roadway to look plausible.

Hey Steve, make sure when you put this finished Dio on the display table at a contest that no fire extinguishers are close by!!

The flame looks that real! Great job!

While I work on the base, install the battery holder and switch, I’ve completed the Lion, which of course, is missing the fire for now. Well… decals are stll in order.

She is looking fine Steve, not far to go now!
