Hello guys, i have started on a tamiya t-72 and was wanting to do an iraqi one. I have a few questions about how to paint it. Would and Iraqi T-72 be very heavily worn or poorly maintained? What color would the chipping be? I plan on using the hairspray technique on it for the first time also so what kind of hairspray do i use? On the top coat, what kind of acrylic should i use for it?

Brian it’s my understanding that prior to encountering US military forces Iraq’s armor was reasonably maintained. I don’t recall seeing a lot of chipped paint on the intact T-72’s we took, but I’d go with a generic primer of red or red oxide under the camo paint. I’ve only seen one demonstration of the hair spray technique and the fellow doing it said use the cheapest hair spray you can find. He used Tamiya paint over the hair spray, but like I said, I’ve only seen it done once and I don’t use the technique myself; so I could be out to lunch.
