Deck paint??

I just started painting waterline ships again after 20 or so years…
I am working on a HMS Nelson and tried painting the deck with Testors Wood paint, it seems a little dark. Any info on a better color to use? All the pictures I have seen look a lot lighter.

Bob - try posting this over in the ship forum… a lot of color experts in there that will help you greatly I am sure. Sometimes this area doesn’t get scanned as much as others…
