Decisions, decisions...........help!

Hey All,

I’m placing an order today (at MilitaryHobbies) for Tamiya’s M1046 HUMVEE Tow Missile Carrier and either Tamiya’s M1A2 Abrams OIF kit OR Dragon’s SdKfz 251 Ausf C ‘3 in 1’ Halftrack. I definitely want the hummer but I’m not sure which of the other 2 to get. They both look awsome, I don’t have any modern armor, but the halftrack looks so nice! [%-)] I know, I know…why not get them all? Well, I’m trying to keep the stash relatively small so that I basically get a new kit (or 2!) for every one that I finish. Besides that, I don’t want to end up living on the street in a big box made from model boxes (as described in another thread). Let me know what you think.

The M1 would work better with the Hummer… dio’s and such.

Ron (Paladin Guy)

well i know this isnt any help but ive just picked up the Sd Kfz 251/22 (the one with the Pak 40 on it) it is great Alum barrel, brass shells 2 sets of tracks
i also got the Tiger (P) and Russian sherman both from dragon(prezzys from my wife)

I have both the Abrams and the 251C 3 in 1/ They are both fantastic kits. The Abrams is typical Tamiya fit with some equipment to hang on it. The 251 has an aluminum barrel for the PaK 40 on it, extra supplies, 4 extra figures, vinyl driver and jacket to hang plus PE and brass grab handles. If you are looking at a theme, buy the Abrams. Otherwise, pick up the 251- you’ll save some dough and won’t be disappointed

Go for the Abrams. I’m wrapping up the finishing details on mine now and you’ll be glad you’ve built one also  Abrams over half-track is my vote.

I guess for consistency’s sake, I’d go with the Abrams, what with the Humvee and everything, but I cannot mention just how nice and complete a kit of the 251 is. I was actually over at MilitaryHobbies (their actual store) a couple of days ago to pick mine up.

Wow what a dilemma…the Abrams would seem better suited to go with the Hummer but if you want diversity and a great kit to boot, the 251 is extremely awesome as well.

Guess it depends on whether you want to focus on modern only or branch out.

Thanks for the input guys - I’m leaning toward the Abrams just because I like the looks of that big nasty beast. Maybe I’ll just cave and get all 3!

Hey Zoki, what do you think of Dave’s store (Military Hobbies)? I’ve been there a couple of times - it is quite a bit bigger than his last place. I actually prefer to shop at his webstore - the traffic in Markham is a bit of a drag - I’m used to sleepy Port Perry. I’m also usually the only person in there and always feel like I have to buy something (although that is not necessarily a bad thing!).

Well…the halftrack will have to wait. I just ordered the hummer and the abrams, both at nice prices from militaryhobbies. The hummer was CAN$ 37.95 (about 31.00 USD) and the abrams was CAN$ 39.95 (about 32.00 USD). The price of the abrams I find a little low as Squadron has it at 41 USD, although I’m not complaining. Anyway, I’m happy. [:D]

Have a great Christmas all!

Squadron is way overpriced. So you done the right thing.

Hehe, so Abrams it is.

As to his store, it’s nice, nothing specially really. He does carry some obscure items that I don’t see anywhere else, and further, the guy’s as nice as they get, and always nothing but extremely helpful. I usually get stuff from them online as well, but once in a while if I’m that part of Markham, I drop in.
You think that one’s big, you should check out NorthStar Hobbies. It’s in 'sauga but worth the visit at least once.
