Decanting Rustoleum...how to clean from air brush

Perhaps a stupid question but im interested in decanting Rustoleum paint+primer. Its worked great for me from the can but id like a little more controll.

What is the best way to clean this from the air brush? Im thinking of decanting into tamiya jars…

Hi WonderBread,

Here’s an FSM Video about decanting spray paint. Hope it helps!

If it’s enamel, then any good mineral spirits paint thinner will do it.

It’s solvent paint so hardware store lacquer thinner is what I use to clean the airbrush. Acetone will work too.

Have a look at my posts in this thread for decanting spray cans. I have detailed steps and pictures there that show my method.

For cleaning any solvent-based paints from my airbrush, I’m using MEK in a relish jar that I have sitting in a water-filled ultrasonic cleaner. I use a Paasche H airbrush, so I just drop the air cap, needle, and color cup into the jar and turn the ultrasonic cleaner on.
