Need help…looking for decals to fit 1/48 scale model of glencoe’s USCG Rescue Boat. Kit came with no decals and have about run out of ideas. Got a sheet of 1/48 decals for Albatros Rescue Plane thinking it would work…it won’t. Will appreciate any ideas. Thanks.[sn0ps]
I would assume that USCG decals would have a lot of white. For dark decals you could scan the 1:48 decals and resize and make inkjet decals. White or light colored decals are much harder to make (though not impossible). Can you post some pics or drawings so we could see what the decals might look like?

There is a paragraph on markings including ‘brew your own’ decals
Try contacting Glencoe and see if you can get a replacement set.
Those decals look liked they’d be pretty easy to do on an inkjet printer. The plain black lettering on side would be very easy. Use clear paper. Not a fancy font-try ariel font in caps.
The red lettering on a black rectangle doesn’t look hard either. Start by trying it with the other clear paper decals. If the red comes out too feint, do it on white paper. You will have to cut out the design somewhat carefully, but a simple rectangle is pretty easy to cut out, and if you do not get it perfect, the white edges on white paint will not be all that noticable.
Micro Mark sells inkjet paper- that is the stuff I use.
