All,
First time poster here. I’m working on the Revell 1/72 P-40K and am coming up on decision time (i.e. What color to paint it???). I want to do a single color (sand or OD w/neutral gray) as opposed to a camoflaged airplane. I’m a sucker for desert finishes, so I’m leaning towards the sand/neutral gray scheme. I’ve found an illustration of an aircraft of the 64th Fighter Squadron of the 57th Fighter Group in a book in the local hobby shop. Trouble is, I’m having trouble finding decals in 1/72 scale for it. I can pick through my decal spares for most of them, but I’m coming up empty on the squadron markings (black scorpion on white background). I’ve seen 1/48 decals for this airplane from multiple manufacturers, but none in my preferred scale. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,
Hi, and welcome to the forums!
I’m not aware of any 1/72 decals for the 64th FS, at least not any currently available (one reason I build 1/48 P-40s-a better selection in decals![:)])
There may have been some in the past that I’m not aware of, and hopefully someone else has more information on this. If that’s the case, you might post a request here or other modeling websites and find a seller.
Other than that, you can have the decals made for you (I’ve had no personal experience with them, but have heard nothing but good about Mike Grant’s decals), or simply select another plane to model!
