Decals 172nd

I am trying to find some 1/72 scale numbers and letters in white. Can anyone help? I am new to the forum. I am building a 1/72nd B 52D for a former pilot who is ill. I have a picture of the plane# 677,in which he won the 1977 bomb comp. The letters on the plane were in white even though it still had the Vietnam paint scheme. I cannot find any white decals even tho I have tried most of the shops and vendors in FSM. I need help.

welcome Richard. try www.squadron.com

Welcome to the forum, Richard!

Try doing a search on these two sites. (You can click on these as links):

www.greatmodels.com

Sometimes in your search parameters you can be very specific, and sometimes you just have to search for the basics and scroll through the list. For instance, when I was looking for german code letters, I typed in “german code letters”, and got right to the item. But when I was looking for Dornier decals I had to look through a list of “german” to find them.

You also might try reposting this topic in the Decaling section of this forum

Hope this helps,

Thank, I have tried both vendors you have mentioned as well as our local hobbyshop.
I have looked at more lisst than can count. No luck. Mabe you experts can give me some advice? Richard E

Hey Richard - I have a thread going on down in the Decaling section of this forum. I mentioned your topic and posted a link to this thread, so hopefully you might get some more responses.

I’m trying to make my own decals for some German code letters. You may have to do the same thing for your needs. I see two difficulties with that, though.

  1. Finding the correct font for your B-52. (I’m searching for a font for my German letters, so I’ll see if I can find yours also).
  2. From what I understand, one needs a special printer to print white, and they aren’t cheap. Hopefully someone here in the forum has one and could print them for you.

I’ll let you know if I find anything that might help you.

Thanks for the information. If alll else fails, I may cut some stencils and spray the letters and numbers.

Richard – what are you trying to make? What size are the real markings you are duplicating? Would Letra-set rub ons from a craft store work?

Wayne brings up an idea…

Richard, you say you have pictures of the A/C. Can you post them here? If not, let us know and we’ll help you do that.

Ok Richard - did some searching today and found the correct (I think) font. It’s called “Amarilllo USAF”. Here’s a link to view it and download it (but you have to buy it):

I’ll post this link down in the decaling forum, too.

Maybe some one out there has it already on there wordprocessor and can make them for you.

Great site Garry, but to place an order, do I have to copy and retype all the info into their order form?
Maybe I’m just lazy, but I think they should add a shoping cart link as do the other retail sites.
