In my search for a decals for Col. B. O. Davis’ P-51C “By Request”, I’ve come up empty! Is there anyone out there with info on the where I can find it?[banghead][banghead][banghead]
Hiya didfal,
Have you tried searching under these AM decal companies?? Aero Master, Cutting Edge, Eagle Strike. Go into www.google.com then type in the above AM companies. In doing the search, you may be able to find other companies as well.
Also, you may want to chat with Jeeves, hes on a mission of building a/c that were flown by the Tuskeegee airmen. Good hunting…

Thanks for the info. Yes, we are on a mission for the T/A GB! Through this Forum I’ve been trying to find this particular nose art without success. I have a list of all the decals available for T/A a/c but no 'By Request". Searched Three Guys, Tally-Ho, Aeromaster, AMT, Monogram, etc. but no joy![banghead][banghead][banghead]
Hey didfal,
I have a few sources, let me see what they can find. Good hunting…

Blackwolf might know, or have a picture so you could make your own. He dosn’t post much anymore, but you could try his Fourm, the ETO Club:

If you do find a color image, I would suggest you contact Pete at sparetimehobbies.com… he just completed a set of nose art decals for a custom build I am doing for a local ball turret gunner…it wasa tricky one with lots of yellow and he pulled it off with flying colors…he is located in Winnipeg.
Hey Jeeves,
Do you mind posting some pix of his art work that he did for you?? How would you rate him??

Well-- I had sent him a bitmap image of the art drawn by a friend and he tried using his ALPS to print it- but it wasn’t cutting it…he made huge efforts to get it looking right for me-- including using white decal paper- to no avail. Finally, he redrew it himself and these are the results:

This was just a quick pic so it really doesn’t do them justice. After all this extra work- he still only charged me the original price. The only thing that got frustrating was not hearing from him for stretches of time-- but I have to give him credit- he is running a hobby shop on top of doing the custom decal work-- and it was the hectic holiday season. His work was well worth the wait-- with Mike Grant out of the business, I am happy to see there is another skilled person I can turn to…

Check out this site. The search I did didn’t Bring up what you want, but a lot of them were listed as part I’s. If you have time to wait, they might show up. Other wise, these might help you piece together, or paint your own markings.

Thanks to everyone for all the info. Since there seems to be some apprehension that there will be too many '51’s in the T/A GB, I’ve decided to build a P-47C. The a/c will represent Capt W. Pruitt’s “Alice Jo” of the 302nd FS.
I’ll contuine my search as I have the '51C in my stash and really want to build 'By Request".[:D][banghead]
didfal-- do you have pics of Tuskegee P-47s?? I have been unable to find any at all…
Negative on the pics of P-47; they’re a scarce as hen teeth! I’ve only seen one fo the ‘Razorback’ and it was b/w.
The Testor kit #520 has both the D in either “RB” of “BT” and shows a ‘D’ from the 332nd FG in the Med '44. Shows NMF with red nose & tail. Depicts Pruitt’s a/c after sinking a German destroyer on June 25, '44. w/o nose art of “Alice Jo.”[banghead]
