I just applied some decals to a car. Some of the decals went on areas that are painted black. Now there is a white residue along the edge of the decal. The decal itself is clear. I tried wiping it off using water, but it didn’t seem to come off. Can I get rid of this somehow?
Novus #2, or The Final Detail wax should work

I looked at the decals again, and the white is under the decal. I don’t know it there was a little air trapped under the edge, or if the decals dried a little cloudy over the black paint. I don’t know how to fix this short of painting over the bad spots. Can I trim the edge off with a exacto knife? How would I remove the decal?
My solution to this problem is to apply some decal setting solution to the affected area and then GENTLY poke the decal with a new #11 blade. You can see the solution seep under the decal. Let it dry and it should be OK.
If you haven’t sealed the decal with future of dullcote or anything, solva set should be able to remove it without destroying it. You just need to soak it with a cotton swab for ten or fifteen minutes, afterwards you should be able to carefully slide it off to a side. Of course this doesn’t work if you have already sealed it in.
