I have quite a collection of kits in “odd-ball” scales such as 1/40 (Revell Bell X-5) and would like to upgrade the decals. Does any manufacturer produce sets of USAF insignias, etc., in various sizes so I could find a “close” match? Cutting Edge does make a set of NASA logos in various sizes, for example.
Didn’t post in decal forum because things seem somewhat inactive there.

You’re going to have a really tough time finding decals (other than generic things, like roundels and such) in off-scales without resorting to paying a king’s ransom for a tailor- made set. Isn’t it now pretty feasible to use a color copier to transfer the markings you want to, say, Bare Metal’s clear or white blank decal stock? Of course, you’d have to first do the math to set the percentage of reduction or enlargement. That would count my dumb self out once you get more difficult than figuring 1/72-to-1/48.

Several suppliers have released sheets of various sized US insignia in both 1/72 & 1/48. None would be exactly right for your non-standard scales, but some might be close enough for the non-purist. I know sheets have been released by Aeromaster, Super Scale & Bare Metal Foil Co. Current availability is another issue however, as these sheets seem to come & go quickly. There have also been sheets of generic letters & numbers for both USAF & Navy in both scales. Try a search at Great Models web store & Squadron. You might get lucky.
