OOB build, but I added some spare PE harnesses,(kit only comes with decals for this). Pretty good too build but I think it’s more suited for having all the panels off, the one engine fairing I did glue on wasn’t a brilliant fit. There are parts/steps omitted in the instructions, so you need to work it out and be careful as to not miss them!
There are 2 tail options in the kit John, the standard vertical tail/rudder with horizontal stabilizers and this one, I did this one as I liked the look better. Also 2 wing types, Prototype and Service, not that it saw service, but plenty of options within.
Outstanding finish! I have the kit as well and am undecided on whether to build it as the V1 prototype or a theoretical in-service machine. Your comments on the panels not fitting well makes me think displaying the engine exposed is the way to go.
That T-tail does look awfully fragile. It reminds me of the He-162 Volksjager - RAE test pilot Eric Brown commented that the endplate fins were weak and that heavy use of the rudders could result in their departure from the airplane!
That camo scheme paint work is outstanding! The panel lines & fading of the colors is “airbrush magic” The base is a perfect way to display this piece too.
