Does anyone know of a match for the color of Dark Sea Blue when it had been exposed to the weather and faded? A Federal Standard number or paint manufacturer’s color number would be great. Thanks.
The FS number is 15042, Dark Sea Blue, a color the Navy used from the last years of WW II ubtil they went to the grey over white scheme in the late 50’s. The Model Master enamel number is 1717. I would add a little grey or white to fade it, and add a little flat base if you really want to make it look oxidized, or give it a flat coat. Just a starting point. I usually leave this color glossy, but that’s just what I’ve done.
Maybe someone else can give you an answer based on actually having faded the GSB.
