Hi all. This is what I’ve been working on lately. It’ a D9R propped on wooden blocks. This will be the center piece for my latest diorama. All the other details will be in the diorama. The diorama will be called…’Major Maintenance’. Hope you like the pieces. The diorama will be posted when I’m done.
Oh wow, I’m liking this already!!!
Thanka for looking. Hopefully the final results will be worth it.
Following. Big fan of your work!

Thanks guys.
Hey! Wait just a darned Minute!
We have to start the leveling of this site for the road and utilities guys. How’r we gonna do it with yer machine in pieces? I know you said you heard a screech at times, but really?
This is very unique way to display a dozer. Great job on the pieces! I just drink up your weathering effects. Don’t hurry on this, it’s awesome already. Can’t wait for the awesomer parts to show up!
HiHi! Thanks for your imput. You should know me by now. I always go against the current.
Appreciate the kind words. Diorama on it’s way sooner than you can imagine.
Well Yeah!
I almost can’t wait. I just wish you lived down the street. I would love to learn weathering like you do. Mine always looks puny by comparison
Thank you. I watched a lot of ‘how to’ videos and did lots of trails & errors, before I found what worked for me. I had to work with what I had on hand, basically. I did not have an airbrush, so I had/have to improvised.
Had to look D9R up admittidly, will be watching avidly. Told someone recently that I learn something new every day.
I should have added ‘bulldozer’ at the end. But u seemed to have figured it already.
I suspect the overturn structure is off because you don’t want the military armored cab if this is the kit I think it is. I sure wish there was a standard cab/rollover structure for it, I’m not so sure Caterpillar builds them without it.
Nice work!
Looking great. Always a treat to see your dio’s.
Hope you are planning something with the tracks, will be interesting to see where it goes from here, am looking forward to the finish.
Thank you kindly. I wished it did come with an altetnative cab like you mentioned. But it didn’t. So i came up with an alternative idea. The D9R is the Meng kit armor version. The idea is, the armor version was sold to a private owner, who decides to a major overhaul on it, after being used heavily for a long period of time. The owner is a fan of the original CAT bulldozer and always wanted this version for himself. He made a sweet deal with the army, who had one lying around, delapidated, due for major heavy repairs. So now, he has decided with the help of a private heavy machinary workshop, to put some life back into this beast. It’s a very costly effort, but if you have the money and a big collector, then it is worth the cash, instead of buying one, which this version, I doubt, is not readily available to civilians.
So that is the back story. Hope it makes since. The Basic version of the D9R bulldozer, does not have the second seat. These were first modified by the Israeli army. Then the U. S. bought a version with small alterations to the exterior.
Thank you. The tracks(one of the pair, that is) will be used on the dio. Soace constriction. It may look to be a big dio but it is not. The D9R is a big kit. So I have to minimize how much of the details and kit parts I can manipulate on the diorama. But I thing you will like the end results.
Ok. Here we go guys. The diorama. It looks complete but it is not. I still have to include the overhead crane, a couple more details, corrugated sidings at both ends with some details, and a welder figure. But so far, things are looking good. What do you think?
[:|][:|][:O][:D]THAT IS …AWESOME!!
Oh Boy !
That is awesome! Now Please don’t tell me they bought the overhead crane surplus and are puttin it back together too! That is certainly a timely dio. LUV IT ! ! T.B. P.S Takes me back to the days when I started my construction Company!
Oh WOW!!!
I could sit here all day drinking in the details but I need to get back to work!!!
