D-9 painted, polished and ready for decals.

Painting is done and all glossed up and ready for decals… hopefully I will start tonight.

Some of the sub-assemblies that were completed while the paint dried.

This one’s gonna be a looker, Marc. The sub-assemblies look amazing! Which kit is this, and how did you do those hinges on the flaps? Are they aftermarket, or did you scratchbuild them. Either way, they look awesome! [tup]

Sweet!

Marc: Top notch stuff! Your airbrush skills on the mottle is superb.

Quick question for you: are there panel lines in the aft fuselage on both sdes of the band? My kit (D-11) has them and they look more like panel lines that run the circumference of the tail than inserts in the tooling. Just wondering if they get filled and smoothed or leave them “as is”.

The camo turned out great. I got one of these in the wings standing by for its first coat.

Nice paintwork Marc! [tup] This one is going to be a looker.

Thanks all for the comments.

ruddratt, those are Eduard flaps. Being able to scratch build like that is one of those wishes I have saved up for when I find a that old lamp[;)]. The kit is the Revell of Ger. 1/32 late Fw-190D-9, the Hasegawa tooling form a few years back, so it has the choice of tails.

mucker, There are 2 panel lines that should have a bit of a slant to them that go all the way around the fuselage. This is the insert that lengthened the the airctaft. The pics below are the tails of an F-8 and a D-9. Sorry aboutthe pic qulity but these are lrage scale drawing hanging on my wall and can’t get them in the scanner.

Marc:

The bottom picture is exactly what I am after. I will leave the slanted vertical lines in as panel lines. I didn;t know if those were tooling marks from the molds or intentional. This answers the question. I would have overlooked many small details like this without the articles you;ve sent and the insight you’ve provided. Thank you.

No worries my friend… glad to be able to help.

Now there is something you dont see every day… wingnut posting pics of an FW…strange…[dinner]

Thanks, Marc. Looks like I’m gonna have to give that kit a shot. Your attention to detail is inspiring, and the finish is right on. One look at those tires and I thought I was looking at the genuine articles. Keep us posted! [tup][tup]

Here we go again[:D] Lookin good there Marc.

Nice work so far Marc. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

Thanks guy… I appreciate the kind words.

I will be breaking the trend soon… I promise… with 2 Fw 190A-8s[:D]

…that’s AFTER the P-39, right? [:D]

Oh yeah… the P-39… errr yeah sure[:-^]

Looks great Marc! I really like the way you treat the flaps and L. gear.

Jerry

Thanks Jerry.

Wow, the subassemblies look great. Besides the mottling, did you freehand the blackgreen over the green? It soft demarcation is very nicely done. I don’t trust my AB skills for doing someting like that yet.

Thanks waikong

Neither do I.[;)] That was done with Handi-Tak and a lot of tape.
