That might be the old kit with the track clearance issues. You have to add a spacer between the upper~lower hull to get the correct track clearance. Otherwise, it’s pretty noticeable.
Just thought some would want to know; still, you can’t beat that sweet deal.
I don’t think it’s that big of an issue Karl. MHO. The track still clears the fenders and isn’t too far off of some photos I’ve seen. Still looks like the IS-2. [H]
They do indeed clear the fenders, Tigerman–as I said, you can’t beat the terrific deal!
I’m just saying that nitpickers will definitely notice the scale problem. The track tops butt right up against the fenders, and they very nearly touch them. It’s the same with all that era’s IS-2 based kits–all the SU series of that molding have the same problems. Just calling it out, for those who might be concerned about that.
An .040 spacer helps the look of the kit a LOT.
$17…that’s a pretty good deal, great kit(your choice of building an IS-1 or IS-2) and the magic tracks are a nice bonus. Not as detailed as the Tamiya kit, but still a fun kit to build.[Y]
The older IS-1 or KV-85 go for big bucks on ebay, so this is cheap alternative. Plus you get the magic tracks.
