CVC Helmets

Looking for a source of 1/35th scale modern U.S. CVC helmets, or figures that are wearing them. I used to have a set of Verlinden tank crewmen wearing them, in white metal, but I don’t want that kind of expense since I’m planning on just drilling the heads out the helmets.

Verlinden made a set of US heads that included several with CVC helmets. It is one of their “bargain sets” that was not overly expensive for Verlinden items. Also Dragon has a set of Desert Storm era US Tankers, 4 figures all in CVC helmets.

Thanks, Pusher… Never thought about Dragon figures… Figure I’ve been a Tamiya guy too long… I found an Academy Israeli tank crew that will work…

Yeah, the Israeli CVC is very similar, just the shell extends out over the earphone tops instead of curving up. Good luck to ya!

Think that’ll be ok? I haven’t seen 'em yet up close… I plan on putting two CVCs on a 577, one lying on the top near the TC hatch, and one on the steering levers…

I think it’s a very easy mod to do on your part to trim the shell to match. When you mentioned Academy, I remembered they also make a R.O.K. tanker set. Their CVC helmets look almost identical to US ones. Sounds like your doing some good detailing on the 577. Dont forget the spaghetti cords and mics.

Not having (easy) access to a 577 anymore, you don’t happen to remember where the hell the VIC-1 components were located do ya? I don’t remember where the spaghetti hooked up… Seems like the TC’s was located forward of the hatch on the ceiling and the driver’s on the right side of the compartment near the access door, but I can’t remember for sure…

The intercom boxes can be mounted where ever your commo Sgt wanted to mount them depending on unit SOP. The spaghetti cords are the two cords you see dangling off the bottom of the intercom box (smaller box low right of the main system box). I never set foot in a 577, I only was on ITVs and 113s. I will have to check my old photos to confirm. I’m sure the drivers box was in the same place on all three, but the TC probably varies on each.
