Great work on the Cutlass.
The finish looks fantastic. Decals look great too.
The long front gear leg is to increase the Angle of attack for take off only.
It also appears on the A-4.
The F-8 had a vairiable incidence wing to achieve the same thing as the aircraft was so long that the couldn’t get the desired angle on the fuselage.

Look at a picture of a Navy Phantom (F-4) just before a “cat” shot. The F-4, and others, also would pump up the nose oleo leg to increase the angle of attack for takeoff.
