I know I know… I need a better camera for this stuff… can’t seem to get our digital camera to charge so I am stuck with my iPhone, which seems to be getting worse in photo quality.
Then again maybe this is a good thing… it’ll hide all my flaws [^o)]
Anyway - got a '69 Camaro in progress… started this years ago actually but it’s been painted, shelved, repainted, reshelved, etc etc and now it is back off the shelf and is finally being wrapped up. I don’t do a lot of cars but I am pretty pleased with how this one is turning out.
Black is Tamiya Gloss Black overcoated with Model Masters Acryl. Stripes are Alclad Chrome. The car needs a few more gloss coats and polishings but it’s very close to being done, paint-wise. Chassis is done as is the interior. Right now I am working on the glass - tinting front (done) and rear (needs work - did not lay down too well and needs to be polished out along with a few more coats to darken the color).
Most of the work on the car was done years ago - just doing the finishing now that I have a little more skill and an airbrush.
“Custom” because all emblems have been removed for a much cleaner appearance. No badges/emblems anywhere - only the door handles and trunk lock. Would have liked to use different wheels but I didn’t have any so I just blacked out the stock rims.
It brings back memories. I had a '69 Z-28 that it took me 3 years to save for and it got wrecked sitting in a parking lot one night thanks to a drunk kid. To this day I miss it. The reality was that the build quality wasn’t very good and your paint job is far superior to the real factory finish on mine. Good luck and keep posting pictures.
Polished out the glass today - looks alright but I think I’m gonna work on it some more… still a little too rough around the edges for my taste. I kind of ruined it with trying to tint them so I’m actually just trying to fix what I did.
After that is done, and the glass is installed, all thats really left is to stick the interior tub in, then set the whole thing down onto the chassis, install the rear bumper, and minor bits and details like door handles and final touchups & polishing.
I messed up the chome on the wheels so I actually blacked them out and am considering either leaving them black (for that blacked-out look) or putting some gloss on them and hitting them with some Alclad chrome.
