I’m converting a B-17 into a Fortress III, they where equipped with a whole bunch of electronic equipment to mess with German radar and given to 214 and 223 bomber squadrons (RAF) and they have quite an interesting story (I recommend checking out the book “A Thousand Shall Fall”) Every picture I can find of the nose shows some sort of equipment but often it’s partly covered by curtains, I just assume it’s due to security issues. So I’m trying to figure out the best way to make curtains with a canvas sorta look. Any pointers would be much appresiated. (also if anyone has any photo references on these planes I haven’t found yet, that would be great too, the book has been my main source.)
I’ve used Kleenex and a solution of Elmers white glue and water to make canvases. The Kleenex can be painted after the glue hardens.
thanks, I’ll give that a go and see what happens.
You can also use tissue paper (like the kind you get wrapped around gifts, especially clothing).
