$50 to buy now?? he can keep them

ive just looked on the Ampersand Publishing’s web site and the two books on the link are only $15.95 on there lol

Yes, and when you go to order it tells you the ordering function doesn’t work yet. If you call Ampersand to order any of the early issues they will just laugh at you! I love people who do 2 seconds of web searching and think they know it all.

Bidding starts at $14.99 - the Buy-It Now is just for those who don’t want to wait. I’ve sold Squadron Signal books that were originally $3.95 for $40+ on eBay - the pricing is right based on my research. Ampersand only published 3000 of each title.

So are these your books that your selling?
and if so, i think you should read the rules of the forum again

Akuk, don’t go done that road w/Caveman.

He’s no no two second google search guy. He pulls out more stuff ( I don’t know where he keeps it ? ) than anybody around here. He’s always got a link w/reference photos, websites and so on.

Don’t pick a fight w/him - he doesn’t fit that mold.

I’m not trying to gang up on you, but you should watch and listen a little while to the people who are regularly here before you start raving

C"mon keep it civil. Captain Caveman is no slacker. He has helped me out many times with stuff on the net.

The third issue would be worth having, but definitely not for 50 bucks.

Why would they laugh? Is it my stupidity for calling and asking or theirs for posting falsified information on their site?

Either way, the books aren’t worth 50 dollars. At least not to me, and whomever is going to laugh at that, they can keep laughing for all I care, but they’ll still stay without MY money

Falsified may be a little strong - it would seem to indicate an intent to mislead. I think outdated may be a better word for the Ampersand website.

Sorry if I’ve offended anyone - but regardless of Captain Caveman’s rep or number of postings he made a incorrect judgement based off of a quick web search and it ticked me off.

But I am apparently wrong as well, as if the forum rules prohibt me posting my own items for sale then I am at fault and apologize for the error. I guess we are even. If this forum had a buy, sell, trade group I would have posted there.

Just an FYI on the price - $14.99 starts the bidding with a resonable reserve, nobody HAS to pay $50. But $50 is about right - see this auction (not mine):

Thanks again - I’ll take my sales elsewhere since this is the wrong forum.
Aaron

That does bring up an interesting idea. We SHOULD have a buy/sell/trade group. I’m sure enough people would come here for just that. I would.

Well, if someone is willing to pay $50 for those, I guess it will be worth it to them. But certainly not to me. I saw Ampersand’s Modelers guide to the Sherman go for close to $50 two different times. As much as I’d like to have that book, it’s not worth it to me.

Also, I called Ampersand to ask if they had any back stock of the Sherman manual. I’ll admit, they did chuckle a bit at the idea, but they certainly didn’t laugh. The gentleman I talked to was very nice. When I suggested they might cosider reprinting it, he told me they are rewriting the Sherman book and it will be a much better book.

As far as e-bay reserves go, I think it’s insane. You are in effect bidding against the seller and he’s the only one with a secret bid! E-bay can be a great tool, if it’s used wisely, by both the buyer and the seller.

One more thing, I agree with the above comments about Jon. He has always been very helpful and cordial to me. Thanks, Jon, for all you’ve done.

FYI - I paid $37 for my Sherman book on eBay but I’ve also seen several go for $50+ - in my opinion it is the only Ampersand publication NOT worth the money! It is okay, but doesn’t come close to being as good as the later Tiger book. The Sherman book’s research and line drawings are the best part - but the model section is disappointing. An okay book - but I’m glad I didn’t spend any more $$ on it.

The Missing Lynx website has a very active armor selling and trading forum for those who are interested.

I frequent the site, but didn’t notice that! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks

Right Akuck you never once said you were selling the books in the first post

I saw them and said “$50 dollars to buy now? He can keep them” (now since your name on here is Akuck and the seller on E Bay is Strtgng why should I make a connection ?

I’m looking the Modellers guide to the Tiger in this country so I was looking for the importer and just noted it was the same publisher
And as I thought the whole reason in posting this thread was that you were interested in buying the above two books I posted the link to the page they were on

Now if you had just come clean about this being an advertisement,
I would have posted “I think you should read the rules of the forum again”

But don’t go jumping down my neck moaning

On here a couple of months back there was some bad language and some people trying to swap not sell SWAP. Now the bad language made the powers that be bring in a blocker and the advertisers who pay for this forum weren’t happy about people swapping things on here

Now its great to have another armour modeller in here, and im sure you’re a great guy but please learn how this forum works, its different from the others

I don’t make the rules
This isn’t my forum
I was just trying to help

Buy the way, im not against the books selling for high prices (if someone is out there that will pay it, that’s cool)

Thank for all the support Build22, Zokissima and Bill
