Anyone know what A-10’s are now wearing (including Gulf war II warthogs)? Also, I’m builiding the big trumpeter kit, but the color chart only references FS numbers and some unidentified manufacturer’s numbers. Anyone know the names of these colors?
currently a-10’s are painted with a grey on grey scheme which should have replaced the euro green scheme by now. The simplest colors to find are made by Testors, and are Light Ghost Grey and Camoflauge Grey.
Hey lplanch,
At the moment I do not have the FS numbers on hand but the Hawg wears basically a Lt ghost and dark ghost gray compass
scheme.
I’ll give ya the FS numbers when I can get to them and post a few pics as well.

Also modern A-10s have a false canopy painted on the underside imediatly beneath the real one. All after market i’ve seen decals provide a diogram of this in there directions or include a decale to replicate it. I believe the A-10 is the only USAF fighter to have this feature. Goodluck w/your A-10!!

The paint the Trumpeter kit is referencing is Gunze Sangyo colors. You can go to http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/colorcharts.asp to cross it over with other brand paints if you like. That’s what I’ve done.

Hey IPLanch;
Well just coming back from Iraq and working the Ole Hawg’s, I could tell you they are painted DK & LT Ghost Grey with Gunship Grey under the nose mimicing the canopy, the FS #'s are FS 36320 for DK Ghost, FS 36375 for LT Ghost and FS 36118 for Gunship
Do you by chance have any pic’s

That pic is interesting regarding the gloss vs. flat debate.
Notice how the aircraft finish is very flat, where the noseart paint is very glossy.
I’d bet real money those “Shark Mouths” are decals, applied in two pieces… It’s probably just the center area above the gun that is painted…
