curbside conversion?!?!

Hi All !!!

I was wondering, has xany one here ever converted a curbside model??? Meaning, have you ever put an engine in a curb side model??? Is this hard??? Is this Practical???

Just a thought…

I do like building Auto Models… but that is something I have never tried to do. It would sure take a lot of scratch building to do it… the engine wouldn’t be as big a problem as the engine compartment.

I like both curbside and great full engine detail… I would think it would be quite the challenge, but now you have me thinking about trying it too!!

HEHEHE!!! I’m glad I got you thinking!!! I havea Fujimi Fiat Barchetta, that is a curb side, iwas thinking of making it a full engine!!! I don’t know, maybe i’ll try it on a kid that is not so hard to get!!!

later

I haven’t done it, but I did spend some time thinking about it. Generally, the engine wouldn’t be that much trouble if you can get it from another kit. You can probably build the ‘chassis’ from the kit piece with some basic skills. Suspension is pretty easy, but the real tough part is building all of the surrounding pieces that frame everything (like the engine compartment, as naplak mentioned above.)

Depending on the car, you might want to check if there is a resin ‘conversion’ kit for your model. This might be easier than trying to do it all from scratch.
