Hello!
Following up another model I Polish Armoured Division goes to the gallery.
Tamiya Cromwell converted to the command version used by General Stanislaw Maczek.
I based on this pics from Polish National Archives.
Sounds like you have axcess to the Polish National Archives, I am very interested in modeling ‘the Warsaw Uprising’ and am currently in the final stages of finishing a Italeri 1/72 scale Hetzer captured by the insurgents, repaired and named ‘Chwat’ The build is in ‘No Aftermarket Group Build’ & the ‘38(t) GB’
That being said can you find more pictures of the German Panther tank the Polish insurgents captured and used to attack the university? I only have one that is a front view and fighters are sitting on it obstructing the tank. Also and markings they applied to that vehicle would be of up most help.
Great job! This is a planned project for me as well. I have everything I need, except the space to start. Too many projects already started. Here’s a good book on the subject it has some of the same photo’s that you have shown here :
The Black Devils’ March - a Doomed Odyssey: The 1st Polish Armoured Division 1939-45
There is a decal set that includes “Pudel”, the Panther A that was captured by the Polish Home Army during the Warsaw Uprising. “Pudel” was manned by Boy Scouts of the Grey Ranks and has the Boy Scouts’ Fleur-De-Lis among its markings Armo has a decal sheet 35407. Jadar sells it, but I don’t know if others do.
Prior to the general uprisng, designated teams of the LWP (Polish Home Army) would stake out and study a vehicle stationed within the city. Manuals would be stolen and studied. By observing the crew and their actiivties other aspects of the vehicle could be learned. In this case the team was that of Boy Scouts. Remember that the Boy Scouts were considered a prohibited organization by the Nazi’s.
The markings are field applied and probably could be home made with masks, stencils & careful painting. I did check out the link and found the site excellent accept I can’t read the Polish? Text. I will keep this page marked and the E-mails sent, much appreciated fellas![t$t]
