Is anyone working on any crazy builds. As most of you know i just finished my german dive bomber, via the " Eye Catching Spitfire" post. im already preparing my next crazy build. im taking a F-14A body and wings and turning it into a nuclear missil platform bomber thingy. If you are working on anything please describe and post pics if you want.

This is a prototype hypothetical model in 1/72. I call it the P-40 NF.MK 1 Nighthawk. Somewhere down the road I’ll build a later mark in 1/48

I’m trying to get one of my own off the ground right now, I Ju 290Z / Me 328 composite aircraft. A little strapped for cash, so I can’t do anything right now, but if you want any more details, the pic is in my signature, and the link is to my Group Build, where I explain my harrowing process in great detail. Just a couple of days ago, IPMS Craig Hewitt (Phoenix) had an A-10 Warthog Madness contest. Their website www.ipms-phx.org doesn’t have pictures posted yet but keep an eye on it! You’ll find some, shall we say unusual, A-10’s![(-D]
I am currently working on the ultimate strafer, a B-17 Straffer variant with 2 75 mil cannons in the nose and about 25 other guns in the nose, side of nose and wings. The rest of the aircraft will have a YB-40 look except with a B-29 Remote 4 50 cal gun turret in the radio gunner compartment and in the ball turret position. Also the tail turret will have a 20 mill elecrically operated feed system cannon with 2 50s. It will have eaither P-47 engins or corsair engins on it with a more powerfull turbo suppercharger system on them. The controll surface wil be enlagred by 30 percent and the tips will be squared off to give it therortically the manuvarability of a large fighter. I have also fighured it will have a standard speed of 350 to 400 mph, with a slightly smaller range than the standard B-17.
There will be about four different versions to see what will perform best. They will be set apart by armament features, engin type, and feul capacity.
Hows that for a crazy build, you are now probably thinking it wont work, well my frind I have done the math and it is very fesable, because it will have a weight of around the B-29 unloaded, and a speed slightly less. Also ots wings and fuselage will be strengthend to compensate for the tremendous wieght put on it when doing manouvers.
here is another one of mine its a bit older though. main body of a F-5 and tail fins from a P-51B.
alright im at the drawing board for a new one its got a F-14 body and its going to have a ww2 bomber look to it, nose position and top turrent. its going to be like a bomb platform.
im having the wings inverted and swing out, im inverting the tail fins. the intake tunnels are cut at a angle.
I got an airfix P51 in 1/72 that i am gonna do a crazy one with, dont know what yet though, heres some ideas that i have had so far.
1 a balls out racer with clipped wings and contra props and a more streamlined canopy and a raised fin, smaller mainwheels too, . (a bit tame but its an idea)
2 a QP51 pilotless drone type thingy, no cockpit at all and a dayglo paint job.
3 a navy 51 with folded wings and a tailhook (probably been done before)
4 an F51 photo recon bird with extended wings and fin and no guns
5 P51 night fighter with 2 seats, radar pod and an all gloss black paint job
over to you guys, what do you think would make the best model?

i like the navy 51 idea. what about a jet version of a 51.
already got a turboprop P51, called the piper enforcer. did the conversion years ago from the godawful starfix 1/72 kit. jet version eh?. kinda like that mig with the engine slung under the nose. hmmm worth considering. thanks for the idea. the navy bird is one of my fave ideas too. if i do it i will also do a navy P38 with a spare lightning i have. i also have a very crazy idea for a P38 that i am stewing over so i’ll keep it quiet for now but if i do it it will be a strange one alright.
