Crappy kit.... Yep, the Imex AH-64

Hey all,

Been a while, but I’m working on my 1/35 Imex AH-64D and while I stand by my initial review of the kit, I’m having one hell of a time with it. The biggest flaw is the instruction sheet, where the vaguely Apache shaped drawings don’t show any detail as to where things go.

If one follows their instincts, the main gear secondary struts will fit nicely into two depressions on the underside of the fuselage. Too bad that makes the bird stand up about 2" too high and gives the completely wrong angle on the mains.

The Longbow Radar mount is REALLY lacking in detail and where it attaches to the main rotor just looks wrong. Gonna need some aluminum tube for that one. All of the cable cutters are waaaaay too thick. Had to replace them with sheet styrene. The canopy fits better than the Revell kit, but not much better.

Don’t even get me started on the cockpit interior. But then again, I ranted about that in my last post on this subject.

Ok… I think I’ve gotten my frustration out. Back to the main gear…

I have seen other bad reviews on this same kit in the past.

Sorry about your icky modeling experience.

I know you will make us proud!

The 1/48 CH46E hasn’t landed at the Hobby Shop yet! AHHHHHH!!!

Thanks for the heads-up. I was just getting ready to buy this one.
