Look at the third panther down in the folowing link. Is it just the picture or does this have that ever-elusive diamond pattern zimmerit?? Lucky find or wishful thinking??

Yeah, I can’t tell. Look at the mantlet. That’s where i THINK I see that pattern.
I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be looking at? And as for this diamond pattern zimmerit thing being non-existent, I don’t get this myth either. I have photos of Panthers with a double, opposing direction, diagonal cross-hatch pattern, if that is what we mean by diamond pattern.
Pexidexion- sorry, this is sort of an inside joke. The “joke” goes- I bought Verlinden’s Damaged Panther A Zimmerit. When I got it, I found the pattern is a smooth diamond shape, very similiar to the common A tiled shape, but diagonal. There is no hatching at all. I have been looking for an example of a Panther like that for months, and my search is actually what brought me here- my very first post. Every once in a while I bring it up, half joking because no one has seen one (to my knowledge) and half hoping someone has a pic so I can finally use it accurately.
Oh, and I was looking around and saw the third pic down on the site up above. I couldn’t tell if it was just the picture or if it had the pattern I was looking for.
Oh OK, I haven’t seen the verlinden stuff up close, so I guess I’m out of the loop. I keep hearing people complain about the stuff, but I have never actually seen it.

I e-mailed them and got a response that basically implied that they made it up. IT went something like “there was no standardized way of applying zimmerit and each tank was done differently”
And this came from Verlinden??? [:0][B)][xx(] Wow…they ought to know better than that for sure! Although they aren’t the only ones to do it, Atak also offers a diamond pattern but for the turret only on a Late A. http://www.modelpoint.us/s.nl/sc.2/category.142/it.A/id.624/.f Maybe this is what Verlinden was trying to replicate but applied it to the entire layout instead of just the turret?
Well, Verlinden has been know for, shall we say, “Artistic License” in the past. But to give them some slack, pretty much anything goes as far as patterns are concerned, just look at this one;

The left mudguard has a diamond cross-hatch, the right one is square. The patch in the middle of the bow plate looks like someone f***ed-up the stuff and had to do it all over again. Try depicting that on your model at a show and every judge and his dog will hack you for your crappy looking Zim job!

Thanks guys. Well, it was worth a shot. That zimm pic was fantastic, Peridexion. Definitely a challenge to model [:P] Wbill, there is a pic in the squadron book of a remodelled A or possibly D that had a similiar zimm pattern. Maybe thats where they got there. Caveman, I definitely would like my $ back. The small pic of it I saw when I ordered it didn’t make it look diamond shape at all.
ive seen that on a Panther in Italy, thers more to it than the main lines, theres finer lines on it
I have seen a diamond pattern over top a ridge pattern, but never the plain old diamond pattern.
