Hey fellas, I’m trying to work on a 1/72 F-4U Corsair and I was looking at the color scheme. I haven’t been able to find the Non-Specular Sea Blue that was suggested and wondered if Dark Sea Blue would work in its place.
ideas?

I’ve been useing DSB, and I’d guess it looks right… But I’m no expert on the subject (and I love Corsairs… Ah well, I’ll learn some day )
Non specular just means flat. Sea blue should be close to sea blue, give or take a manufacturer.
If you are doing a tri-color Corsair you want a matt finish, If the overall Gloss Dark Sea Blue scheme, you want gloss. ModelMaster makes a Dark Sea Blue FS 15042, which is flat & is close to the correct color.

Dark sea blue FS15042
Flat sea blue FS35042
1 is gloss
3 is flat
Take your choice, Testor’s does both

Helicopters don’t fly, they beat the air into submission
or use either and dull coat it, I’ve been in that corner before with my SBD
Hannants do Xtracolour Non-Specular Sea Blue X121 / Intermediate Blue X125 / White X141, or Polyscale Acrylic Non Specular Sea Blue PS5092 / Intermediate Blue PS5094, and Tamiya do the Intermediate Blue, though I’m not sure about the Sea Blue. Go to www.hannants.co.uk
They’re both the same colour, just one is gloss the other flat. I’d use the gloss so I wouldn’t have to gloss coat before decals. Then I’d add a flat coat over it.
