I have read in previous posts that the Tamiya T 72M1 was not the type that was in the Iraqi inventory. I have looked at a lot of photos and I don’t see much difference. I believe someone said the front glacious plate should not have the inch thick plate added. On many of the captured T 72s I saw the extra armor. One thing I noticed is none of the Iraqi photos I have looked at have the drivers vision block cleaning tube. What are other issues you might be aware of?
There’s a “how to” article by Cookie Sewell in the February 2001 FSM about this subject exactly. The gist is that the roadwheels should have eight not six mounting bolts. A “dazzler” needs to be scratched and mounted on the turret. Repositioning the smoke grenade launchers hides a turret shape flaw rather than the work of fixing it. There are some other small troubles as well. His article has some good photos of what he did and his tanks look real good.
Dont forget to lay the turret upside down next to the hull .[:-^]
