Cool photos of King Tiger from Saumur

Notice how rust-free the 60+ year old track links are, and how clean the tank looks despite having driven around a bit in the Norman countryside.

Also notice how little it is evident that the sprayed on camo pattern has fuzzy edges instead of hard, and how the muzzle on the Tiger II appears to be blackened – by paint? by shooting? By dirt? Food for thought.

Some good pics. Interesting camo scheme.

Thanks!

I have to admit that seeing the pics inspired me to build a Tiger II, even though it’s arguably the most overhyped tank in history. Maybe once the 1/48th scale kit comes out …

It’s been noted for some time that the King Tiger is wearing the incorrect color scheme, and the turret numbers are far too large… I have…somewhere, photos of the original vehicle shortly after its capture, and it looks nothing like it does now. Still…it’s a King Tiger, and a running one at that. Jeff

Well, I assume that those are original track links, at least. [:)]

great links larry thanks for posting them

i remember when it was going to go but never did find any photos of it, thanks again for posting your find

Great photos, Larry. I was under the impression that there weren’t any Tiger II’s running. Now I know.

Larry this website would be a good one to send people to who want to see what WW2 track German looked like. It is not black with brown wash. Greg

Wow, those are cool pics. Thanks for posting those
