Just did a quick search on Yahoo for the last museum I visited in the states (in 1995!) and found this excellent website. The place sure has changed in 9 years!
It’s the Robins Air Force Base Museum of Aviation.

The site as a nice intro. My goal is to see the Smithsonian Air museum and spend 3-4 days to take in every thing.
I will have to add that one to my list.
Others I need to get to are the new Air and Space addition in VA and the Air Force Museum in OH.
A couple of other good ones that I have visited are Pima Air Museum in AZ, Naval Air Museum in FL and Hill AFB Museum here in UT (have pics of the last 2 on my website and hope to get some of Pima during the IPMS Nationals).
I would surely recomend the USAF museum… that is where I took my signature picture of the B-2. It’s the first museum to have this aircraft on permanent static display. The now cold war hanger is really worth seeing.
The museum is great! The museum director is Gen. Robert L. Scott USAF (Ret.). Yes, he’s the guy that flew with the Flying Tigers and wrote “God is My Co-Pilot”. The General is in his 90’s now,but he greets you personally, and if the crowds arent’ too big, will give you a guided tour of the facility. He answers most all questions graciously and signs autographs. Make sure your bring your book when you come!
